from very recent experience, always get to know people before you judge them.

Martyred
By Matt Lamm

The crowd cheered on,
The beheader went up.
The hero lay helpless,
His emotions erupt

The blade was raised,
Then the razor went down.

The crowd was hushed;
They made not a sound.

His neck was severed;
The hero behead.

Who was this man?
Why had he bled?

Why did he die
For the rebellion he led?

The blade now bloodied,
The thrill now dead . . .

The hero was now made,
His name for eternity said.

i am incredibly frustrated with the whole idea of online journals. i was in the beginning, i got numb to it and now i'm irritated again. here. i'll put here what i wrote in my journal about the subject on january 23, 2002:

i just found out [something important] and you know how i found out? i went to [this person's] website. what kind of way is that?? forgive me for being naive, but i thought that you would tell you friends about that sort of thing. maybe [this person] did...but i certainly didn't know or have any idea. i am hurt. maybe i shouldn't be, but i am.

i'm foreswearing all web journals now.

i'm keeping mine up, but only as a journal.

yesterday was lovely. perfectly lovely.

yes, i had to start school again and yes dr. clark was irritated because i apparently didn't dissect the eyeball delicately enough and didn't identify enough parts of it, but it was still lovely.

the road was so cold that the snow blew across it in little rivulets of white.

we went horseback riding yesterday too, grace and allison and i. it was really, really cold, but we were dressed for it, so we didn't freeze or anything. my horse and i reached an understanding. it was this:

i am the boss

and we got along very well after that. while we were up on top of the mountain, the wind was blowing like crazy and it was roaring in the treetops all around us. the snow was blowing in our faces and stinging our eyes, but that just made it interesting. once we heard something that sounded like a scream or a cry, but it was somewhat animalistic(?) and it was a wild night, so we didn't check it out. when we got back from horseback riding, the rest of the horses had gotten out of the field, so we had to go searching for them. we eventually found them though.

when it's cold and you can't get inside, go to a barn. it's always warm in a barn.

the sunrise this morning was absolutely breathtaking and indescribable. the sky was on fire.
